Frequently Asked Questions
is it mandatory that I have liability insurance?
Liability insurance not mandatory, however, we believe that anyone in an advisory role, liability insurance is a must-have. Not only does it protect the client incase something happens to them, it protects you and your business. With this in mind, we have worked with our insurance agent to create affordable and customizable coverage that can suit your needs in any circumstance, whether you are just starting out and on a tight budget or you are a seasoned professional with many clients.
I would like to join CAIN but I am not yet working with clients. Do i have to obtain coverage?
If you are not ready to meet with clients yet, you are not required to purchase liability insurance to be a member with CAIN. We do however highly advise that if you have an active website, social media, blog, newletter etc., you should absolutely consider getting coverage right away. Just because you are not yet taking an income, in no way means you are not exposing yourself to risk if you have an online presence.
Once your liability is confirmed, we will update your status in the public registry as such.
Do I have to get my liability insurance through CAIN?
Great question! You do not have to purchase your liability insurance through CAIN however if you do not get your coverage through us, you should ensure you are properly covered and that the insurance company fully understands what a Holistic Nutritionist or Health Coach is and what services they provide. We found through our own research and negotiations, that many companies do not have a full understanding of the professions and this is important if you are going to be covered by them.
I want to work while travelling. Am i covered for this?
You may travel within the country you have purchased your liability coverage and still be covered.
You will not be covered while travelling to other countries under any plan you can find. Beware of plans whose wording claims they provide "International Coverage." This does not mean you can travel internationally. It means you can obtain coverage internationally based on your location.
There are several reasons for this:
It is illegal to work and obtain an income in a country without taking the proper legal steps.
You must be a citizen or permanent resident of that country for tax purposes to be covered by any insurance plan.
Laws vary from country to country and what you are covered for in your country, may be illegal or outside of your scope of practice in another country.
